COMMUNICATIONS

Secretaries are asked to circulate ABPS News and the E-Bulletin to as many members as possible. Please e-mail Geoff Longbottom  abps.phil@elics.co.uk with the e-mail address of your newsletter editor and web site manager so they can also receive a copy direct.

 

Copies of the new leaflet WHAT DOES ABPS DO FOR ITS MEMBERS? for distribution to your members are also available on request from Geoff.

 

Can Secretaries please take along the Handbook & Directory and Philatelic Lecturers & Displays to all meetings to make them available to members for reference.

 

CONGRESS 2008

This is being held at Stratford on Avon from 24th to 27th July at the Holiday Inn. Further information can be found in ABPS News and a booking form is available from:

HARROGATE 2008

Plans are well advanced and this promises to be an exciting event. There will be some 60 dealers and 20 Society tables. There are 418 competition frames on display with judging based on FIP rules. Other invited displays include items from the Royal Philatelic Collection and Yorkshire Postal History. The entries for the Stamp Active Youth Competitions will also be displayed.

Regrettably, it will not be possible to hold the InterFederation competition at Harrogate and this has now been deferred until 2009.

NATIONAL COMPETITIONS 2009

These will be back at Autumn Stampex in 2009.

 

FESTIVAL OF STAMPS 2010

BPMA are the driving force behind many planned events over several months in 2010.

These will include: the Guildhall, London: The Life and Times of King George V;

Freeling House, London: Special events including children’s activities; and British Museum: Coins.

Others will be at Lords, Wimbledon, Twickenham, the National Portrait Gallery, the National History Museum and The British Library.

Federation events are planned in Thames Valley, Essex, South Wales, East Midlands, Somerset, Hampshire and the North West.

 

STORAGE SPACE REQUIRED

The existing facilities for storage of containers may soon be lost. ABPS would like to hear from anyone with space to store up to four containers in their car park or elsewhere. Offers or suggestions please to Mike Brindle.

 

AGM

This will be held on Saturday 12th July 2008 at The Royal Philatelic Society, London at 2pm.
