OPAL MEETINGS

OPAL AGM - Philatex Extra, May 2010

 

A meeting for OPAL members has been arranged for Saturday 6th May 2010 at Philatex, London, in room 31 The meeting starts at 12.45 and will last for two hours.

 

There is no formal agenda; it will be an informal social affair. Members may bring one or two frames for display, items to sell or exchange, or even come to pay their subs!

Opening hours: Wednesday 11am to 7pm. Thursday 10am to 6pm
Where: The Royal Horticultural Halls, Lawrence Hall

Who is there: Dealers from the U.K., Europe, United States, Canada, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand
Admission: Free


There are upwards of 100 Dealers with stands, buying and selling Philatelic material. Tables and chairs at the stands make for comfort. You can buy or sell, get valuations or just browse and see what the hobby is all about. There are various specialist society meetings on the Saturday to which everyone is welcome, whether member or not. There is a bar for alcoholic drinks plus a full self service restaurant serving hot and cold meals, open during the day.

OPAL Meeting at Solihull Convention Spring 2010

 

There will be an informal OPAL meeting on Saturday 24th April 2010 at the Solihull Convention at Arden School, Knowle, Solihull, courtesy of the Midland Philatelic Federation and Solihull Philatelic Society.  There will be about two dozen dealers in attendance.  There is a railway station at Dorridge on the Chiltern Line (Marylebone - Birmingham) approximately ¾ mile away with a bus service to Knowle. There is ample free parking and directions will be signposted from Junction 5 of the M42 some 1¼ miles away. There will be a simple refreshment stand at the venue and there are three public houses nearby serving more substantial meals. This is the first time OPAL has participated at this venue. OPAL members living in or near the area are urged to attend and to bring along some interesting material to show.  The web site with more information is www.solihullphilatelicsociety.org.uk
