Another effect of the prolonged immersion in water is the migration of ink from one stamp to another.  Below is a 1½ qirsh Makkah Arms with an inverted red 4-line overprint (SG 161a) and showing the impression of a similar stamp.

 

Ink migration from the front of one sheet to the back of another caused by prolonged immersion in water.

There is therefore more to the Khartoum cancels than being just a forgery.  Take a closer look; the stamps may be genuine and possibly rare.
